Ah Randy,

The boat that fits your description to a T is that mid 30 foot Carver....I think it is the Mariner 350 or 360. It looks exactly like a Nike high top complete with the swoosh and everything. I honestly do not believe the designer was going for form here.....function definitely prevailed as the boat is very strange looking(that is putting it mildly). But I ask, have you ever been aboard this model of boat??? It is incredibly spacious on the inside with a wonderful cockpit that has safe and easy access(a couple of stairs) to a very wonderfully accomodating flybridge and easy safe access to a bow that has bench seating and a sunpad.....there is not one single ladder on the whole boat(okay maybe a swim ladder). You all know the boat I am talking about because we have all looked at it and wondered how/why someone would buy such a creature. The proud owners definitely sacraficed the form part for the function(ie Manatee ) as we active boaters all know there seem to be thousands of these things out there. The more I walk around the boat(at boat shows) the more I understand why people buy it.

Trawler on,
John

But I have a hard time with some of the
newer sail and powerboat designs - what we call "Euro-trash". A friend claims
they were designed to look like a tennis shoe.  I guess they just aren't easy
to look at....at least to me.  Maybe in twenty years we all will think they
are beautiful.  Someone does right now.
