Carabelle To Mobile Bay

From Carabelle to Mobile Bay there is no problem with 5 foot draft.  You

have to be able to get under a 49 foot bridge, and I assume that is not an
issue for you.  Be sure that you stay in the channel--there are a few places
where it may not be clear, so find the next mark with binoculars, watch
where you are on the chart plotter, and "read" the water.  For the most part
this is 8 foot depth.  We run this part of the GG ICW frequently.

It is about 60 miles from Tarpon Springs to Ceder Key.  If you anchor at
Anclote Key and leave early in the AM, you should make Ceder Key by dark.

I would be reluctant to try any intermediate stop at this time of the
year--we are still having relitatively low tides.  Northers can still be a
problem this time of the year, and you DO NOT want to anchor in the gulf if
there is a Norther.

The other option--which most people take in sailboats is to go straight from
Tarpon Springs to Apalachicola--about 160 miles and an overnighter.  If you
are going from Ceder Key to Dog Island (Carabelle) it is still 100 miles and
an over nighter.  I would also be reluctant to try the North West channel
out of Ceder Key this time of the year, so that the trip across means back
tracking to the Southerly channel.

Have a good trip.
