The Greenwich-Stamford Summer Bird Count was conducted this past weekend.
Highlights from my area which encompassed all of Old Greenwich and Riverside
and part of coastal Stamford - 72 species, including:
Brown Thrasher
Least Flycatcher
Eastern Wood Pewee
Eastern Phoebe
Purple Martins (6) - with hopes of a new colony forming in Riverside.
Yellow-crowned Night Heron
Gull-billed Terns (2) - not seen by any of our party. (I'm banging my head over this one
as we arrived at the point minutes after this sighting by Tom Baptist.)
Laughing Gulls (22)
Chimney Swifts (23) - seem to be on the increase. Nice!
Marsh Wren
Thanks to Cynthia Ehlinger and Debby Ethridge for their diligent and dedicated efforts
as my "teammates".
