Draining & Cleaning Racor Bowls

Somebody on this list suggested the use of a laboratory wash bottle
to clean Racor bowls.  With a wash bottle you can remove almost 100%
of the gunk that collects on the sides of the bowl and considering
the cost of a gallon of fuel it only takes about $0.50 worth of
fuel.  Wash bottles are available from laboratory supply houses - I
should have opted for one with a longer & more flexible wash tube but
it still gets the job done.

Yea, that was me. I bought a box of six 1 Liter wash bottles and use them
for all kinds of things. One has diesel, one has denatured alcohol, and one
has naphtha. Use them for cleaning all kinds of things, depending on which
solvent I need. You can use the diesel one to prefill those pesky CAV
filters if you have them. Remember you can set them up to be used tip side
up or down, and you can cut the tip off if you need a bigger stream. Very
useful items! I got mine at Fisher Scientific http://www.fishersci.com but
you can find them all over.
