The Emerald Sequoia software developers are calling it quits.

Emerald Blog - Notes from the developers at Emerald Sequoia LLC

I remember finding the Time App in the Apple store.  At the time is was one
of a kind.  I have used it regularly over the years to synchronize the time
of customer Electronic Carillon systems during maintenance calls.

Many of the legacy systems I service do not have GPS, but instead use the
60Hz AC line as a reference, which in itself (depending on the power
company) can turn into a major headache.

I understand the developer's point of view in dealing with changes and the
competition.

I would love to see their apps continue, at least the Observatory (iPad).  It's
very disappointing that some Apple developer can't take it under their wing.
I'd be happy to pay - what -  $10 annually just for the Observatory app.

Cheers,
David

I had not seen that before. Those are really nice faces. I normally just
lurk but I wanted to point out iEphemeris. It is my favorite time/astronomy
app.

Cheers,
Colin

They do discuss on their blog that they had considered turning it into a
subscription, but they thought it wouldn't work out.

Colin,

I use SkySafari (or Google's SkyMap) for approximate star positions.

I looked at iEphemeris and it doesn't offer the same display mix which "Emerald
Observatory for iPad" does.  I think being an iPad program rather then iPhone
makes a difference.  It doesn't get a good rating or reviews!

Cheers,
David
