To Whom It May Concern:

We at the Center for Chinese Studies (CCS) would like to take this opportunity to pass on some information and ask your help in spreading the word. CCS is currently accepting applications for research grants in 2012. This grant is designed to assist foreign scholars in conducting research in Taiwan, the Republic of China. Assistance provided by CCS includes a monthly stipend, assistance with research materials, liaison with scholars and institutions in Taiwan, use of CCS facilities, and a direct round-trip economy-class ticket. Research tenure is from three months to one year.

The grant is designed for foreign professors (assistant, associate, or full), as well as doctoral candidates or researchers in the field of Chinese studies at foreign universities or academic institutes. Research projects should be within the field of Chinese or Taiwanese studies. All application materials should be posted (electronically or by air mail) no later than May 31st, 2011. We will then notify all applicants of the Selection Committee’s decisions no later than the end of August.

For doctoral candidates that are approved, our Center, in conjunction with the Humanities Research Center of the National Science Council, provides guidance from seasoned researchers on the chosen topic of research. For all other grant recipients, our Center provides exchange and lecture opportunities with major universities here.

Details are outlined more thoroughly in the information that we have included herewith. Please also feel free to visit our website (http://ccs.ncl.edu.tw/ccs2/ENGLISH/regulation.aspx) for more information. We would appreciate it if you would put up the poster welcoming contributions in English and pass on information about the research grant to those who might be interested. Should you have any questions concerning the grant or CCS, please feel free to contact us via email at ccsgrant@ncl.edu.tw.

Sincerely yours,

Center for Chinese Studies
