Having discussed all this, I'm really

wondering how the FUBAR is going to

play out?  We were three boats sharing an

ocean for 3 days.  That's going to

be 60 boats for two weeks.  I can only

imagine the fun that's going to

result!!!!

Excellent point!

I was intially
concerned about heading to Mexico in the company of 160 boats in the Ha Ha
last year.  But the Ha Ha's Grand Poohba, Richard Spindler wisely refused to
give any recommended waypoints to get from one destination to another.  He
even refused to give a recommendation as whether to pass inside or outside San
Benito Is near the entrance to Turtle Bay.  He said, "Skipper, you're on your
own."  As it turned out everyone did their own thing on their on course and we
rarely saw another boat even on radar after the intial departure.  As I
recall, the closest we came to anyone on the high seas was about two miles.
Now the Mexican fishing boats around Ensenada is another issue.  Scott, I want
to discuss this with you as you get closer to the time of entering Mexican
waters.

I hope they do the same for the FUBAR.  If they do give waypoints,
Scott I highly recommend that you NOT follow them and go on your own route.
Power boats will tend to follow those waypoints much more closely than
sailboats and it will get congested.  Don't get caught in the pack.  Do your
own thing.  You will always be in radio contact with the fleet either by VHF
or SSB.  Colliding with a colleague boat would be of more concern and stress
to me than my faithful John Deere conking out.

BTW, we found it more
convenient on our course to go inside San Benito.

Well, I'm here in Baja with
Hurricane Henriette passing over.  Nasty weather but not life threatening or
property damaging....yet.  The surf outside my condo looks like the north
shore of Oahu right now!
