We made fenderboards using something similar to this Taylor product for our cruise to Alaska. The line used to hang them goes through this white fender and the board. We like getting fuel at commercial docks because it is cheaper and fresher so we use the boards in the Seattle area for that purpose. https://autoplicity.com/11173784-taylor-made-96011-fender-board-guards?msclkid=0905ef40386616b98e68b0d72de03de3&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Shopping%3A%20Avg%20Performers&utm_term=4579603369910371&utm_content=cl3%3Ano%20category

We used the same type fender boards for our 47' sailboat for as long as
we owned her. They were similarly made, but for 2"x6" boards. Ours were
4' long. We could use them hung horizontally with or without additional
vertically hanging cylindrical fenders between the fender boards and the
hull . It just depended upon how much clearance from the pilings we
wanted. We never had a problem with the vertical fenders rolling out
from behind the boards. I suppose it was because we always tied the
fender boards fairly close to the toe rail and lead the tie-ropes out
towards the end of the fenders so they did not have much play and
therefore, the additional vertically-hung fenders didn't have much play,
either. They were more or less permanently tied to the toe-rail and then
lashed to two stanchions, when not in use. We seldom had to move them to
new locations.
Take care and be safe.
