I don't know Jim, but with a little effort we can find out.
Make a dam with plaster or spackel large enough for the transducer to sit
in a liquid any place its easy to get to in your hull. Many places will
sell you the unit with return privileges. Place the transducer in the pool
of water in the dam and see if you get a reading. Make sure there are no
bubbles on the transducer. If it works make a dam where you want to mount
the tx'r and fill with epoxy and wet the tx'r with epoxy so no bubbles, set
in the position to make vertical, it will start working before it hardens.
Make sure there are no bubbles in the epoxy and you've done your
installation. If it doesn't work take it back for a refund before you put
it in the epoxy.
I've heard it said you can put the t'xr in a baggie of water and try it but
I've never done it.
Please let me know the outcome.
