Good morning,

I am reaching out to ask for your help in sharing exciting appointment opportunities available for community members to get involved in shaping the future of our county by serving on a board or commission. The people who serve on county Boards and Commissions play a vital role in advising local government.

I'd also like to introduce you to Evan Koepfler, my Strategic Advisor for Community Engagement. As our office works to ensure that our county boards & commissions reflect the rich diversity of Pierce County, Evan will be sending out monthly updates on vacancies and upcoming opportunities for folks to get involved. Joining a Board or Commission is a meaningful way to contribute your voice, expertise, and lived experience to issues that impact our community. There are dozens of boards and commissions spanning public health, transportation, housing, veterans' affairs, the arts, and more. I'm happy to share current opportunities for passionate and engaged individuals to serve include:

  • Birth to 25 Advisory Boardhttps://www.piercecountywa.gov/6323/Birth-to-25-Advisory-Board - The Birth to 25 Advisory Board (B-25 Board) is a 21-member board tasked with proposing to the County Executive and County Council a long-range plan with policy, systems, and environmental change recommendations to ensure the successful educational development of infants, children, youth and young adults ages Birth to 25.
    *  Seeking applicants for 3 vacancies including positions representing:
  • Behavioral Health Advisory Boardhttps://www.piercecountywa.gov/7217/Behavioral-Health-Advisory-Board - The Behavioral Health Advisory Board serves in an advisory capacity to assist the County in meeting the comprehensive behavioral health planning responsibilities required by applicable laws of the State of Washington Chapter 8.101PCC.
    *  Seeking applicants for 1 vacancy and 1 upcoming vacancy representing:
    • First Responders (vacant)
    • Rural Pierce County (upcoming vacancy - 6/30/25)
  • Transportation Advisory Commissionhttps://www.piercecountywa.gov/5897/Transportation-Advisory-Commission - The Advisory Commission provides policy guidance on local transportation issues to the governing board of the Transportation Benefit District, the Pierce County Executive, and the Pierce County Council.
    *  Seeking applicants for 4 vacancies representing:
    • Business Community (2)
    • Community Groups (1) - Non-governmental community and neighborhood councils or other community organizations which are active in the unincorporated area
    • Disability Community (1) - The disability community, a family member of a person with a disability or someone that works with people with disabilities.
