Greetings, Tacoma art-friends!

Title:
Make Way: Queer Photography, Identity, and Youhttps://www.tacomaartmuseum.org/tam-studio/make-way-queer-photography-identity-and-you/
About:
Join local artist Steven Miller for an interactive two-part workshop centered on queer history, exploring identity through photography, and making an LGBTQIA+ cyanotype photograph of your own.
The first session of the workshop is a visual tour of queer photography: from the earliest known practitioners to some of today’s creators. We’ll have a group discussion about the work we’ve seen, and you’ll be encouraged to take a photo centered on your community before we meet again.
*
The second session will be a hands-on lesson in printing a cyanotype from your image. This 19th-century photography process makes rich, blue-toned archival photographs. Workshop attendees will learn how to create a cyanotype from start to finish and are encouraged to wear clothes that might get stained. With luck, everyone will make a print that they can take home.
Dates:
- Sunday, January 12, 1:00 – 4:00 pm, TAM Event Space
- Sunday, January 19, 1:00 – 4:00 pm, Cheney Classroom
Pricing
This workshop is $50 for members and $60 for non-members. The hands-on workshop is limited to 20 participants, so register now to reserve your spot.
