Hi all,
I have been trying to connect to OpenbBTS network from mobile phones.
When I edit the preferred network list on mobile and search the available
networks in manual mode. But I am not able to register to it. An HTC mobile
gave an error of "Your SIM card doesn't allow connecting to this network"
and a Celkon mobile says "Failed to register" when tried to register to the
Test network. I am using MCC/MNC = 001/01 and 900 GSM band. I am using a
UNINOR local SIM, which does not have coverage at the place where i am
experimenting.
Can anyone please suggest me what are the problems that could be with my
phone or SIM card? I am also trying to employ the external clock of 10MHz
but have not yet. Please suggest me what to do. I am stuck up here.. :(

Thank you,
Madhuri.

This sounds like a phone locking issue. Phone messages can be
deceiving, however, so it may still be something with the BTS.

Please post a global log file. NOTICE level is fine. My guess is that
the BTS isn't receiving messages.

If your phone sees the network, I wouldn't worry about the 10 MHz
reference. It may help with reliability, but if your phone never
connects, then it's probably not a clock issue.

Hi!

why don't you try using a different MMC/MNC combination, it could help if it is a SIM problem... I would suggest using a code of Uninor (there are several 405/819, 405/820, 405/821, 405/822). Let us know if it works and good luck.

Un saludo / Best Regards

Hi,

This actually should go to OpenBTS mailing list - please post there next time.

I suggest you to check your Asterisk sip.conf - it will reject
connections if you haven't added IMSIs of your phones there.

PS We should probably add a FAQ entry with all things to check in this
popular case.
