5/26 Re Alex Burdo's finding a Fish Crow in Kent and the comment that
they are uncommon up here, they have been nesting in New Milford's Sunny Valley
Preserve (TNC) for several years and on any given day one can find one in
the Stop & Shop plaza on Rte.7 - so I see no reason why they should not
have migrated up to Kent - New Milford's Black Vulture population has moved up
there and can be seen roosting right along Main Street or in the vicinity
of the transfer station just to the east on Rte.341. The general migration
may have slipped past lower Litchfield County in the blink of an eye, but
we have a few compensations!

Fish crows are not uncommon any more to find inland, especially along areas of any major river ways like the Naugatuck or Farmington. They have been in Winsted for many years as well Torrington and Canton that I can attest too.

Keep in mind exactly what Alex reported:
1 FISH CROW. According to eBird reports, this
species is quite uncommon-nonexistent in this area,
It seems reasonable to me that this says as much about eBird as it does about Fish Crows.

Now now, let's cut eBird some slack and instead criticize those of you in
those areas who should be using eBird to report them! Tsk tsk...clearly
some of you up there have yet to get with the program ;)
It is only as good as what you all put in (or don't).

I've heard them in Kent for some years; in Washington also. I feel a little better to hear it wasn't just me, that I missed most of the migrants!

Agreed Roy. Obviously Alex reported his field observations vs eBird quite
well. Fish Crows (which could probably be renamed Shopping Center Crows
inland) have become rather common inland along river valleys. It is also
apparent that eBird is not utilized by all birders, which is not meant as a
criticism, it's just perspicuous.
