For all you Loopers that have wintered in Florida, could you please help out
those of us planning for next winter (like me) by sharing what your favourite
marinas have been while it is fresh in your mind?  I am particularly
interested in those allowing live a boards for an extended stay  that are
reasonably priced with nice amenities. Sunshine and warm weather of course is
a must (hey, we still have snow on the frozen ground up here in Ontario). I
know Active Captain and other sites have lots of listings .. but I am looking
for those willing to share current first hand knowledge.

Many thanks

I can think of two "inexpensive" marinas that welcome live-aboards.

Mangrove Marina in the Keys, Tavernier FL on the bay side.  Less than $700 for
a month for a 36' boat.  Max. 4' draft, though.  Easy walking distance to
movie theater, Winn Dixie, restaurants, hospital, liquor store, ...
305-852-8380.

Dania Beach Marina, just south of Ft. Lauderdale FL, on the ocean side of the
ICW.  $575/mo. for a 36' boat, all inclusive.  You must be able to get under a
17' MHW bridge.  Ocean beach right across the road.

As you get closer to Marathon and Key West, dockage rates go up.
