Keeping up with the new CPD requirements

Hi, Everyone -

Yes, it is frustrating how prescriptive and pedantic the new CPD
requirements appear to be.  It's also paticularly frustrating for those of
us who had already completed the number of hours required for the 2009-2011
clinical college cycle and now have to start over.

FYI, the American Psychological Association has a number of "home study" CPD
offerings which I believe would fit the PBA's "active" requirements.  Go to
the www.apa.org and see the CE listings.  There are lists of specific
books/articles one can read (usually APA published ones) and you can
purchase an on-line exam (I know, more money).  If you pass by 70% you get a
printable CE certificate.  When I was keeping my U.S. registration active I
had to use the APA home study options as they wouldn't recognise
Australian-based offerings (I think in part b/c they haven't tended to offer
an evaluative component).  For example, one can read Falendar and
Schafranske's book on clinical supervision, take the exam and get 10 hours
of CPD credit.  The exams are a bit tricky, however, so you do have to pay
attention ;-)

Cheers,
Michelle
