Avoid Summet North Marina on the C&D Canal (between the Chesapeake Bay and Delaware Bay) for fuel. Gas there has been selling at $3.00 per gallon. Consider going up the Sassafras River 8 miles -- there are several marinas (Skipjack Cove, Duffey's Creek Marina Granery, Sailing Emporium, Sassafras Harbor Marina and Georgetown Yacht Basin Marina. Skipjack, Duffeys and Georgetown sell gas and
diesel - check prices before fueling. Best marina to stay at is Sassafras Harbor Marina (Granery and Kitty Night House restaurants within walking distance, best marine & gift store, picnic and grilling areas, swimming pool, cable TV).
Also, Ottwells grocery store (2 miles away) will pick you up and take you back to the marina for a $50.00 grocery bill.

We were nervous at New River just below Camp LeJune.
Pamlico and Abelmarle Sounds were very uneventful. We went early in the day top avoid the PM Thunderstorms.
We found fuel for $1.289 tax paid at New River marina at Sneads Landing NC.
