Hello All,

Thanks to all that responded to my earlier post.  I have a nice list of "features" that the next boat should have and would have no trouble selecting a "qualified" boat from a given group.  I guess my question is, with all else equal, is there a brand or type of boat that would be easier to sell at the other end of the adventure.  For example:

Are American made boats easier to sell than Taiwanese?
Are standard double cabin trawlers in more demand than sundeck models?
Should one stay away from a certain power plant?
What age is too old?
How important is Brand Name?

My first inclination was to get something for less than $150K.  Part of my rational was that I could not fall as far if I started lower.  If I sell at 130K, the fall was 20K.  Then I started thinking that if I started higher and still only fell 20K, then I would get the use of (presumably) a better, newer, more reliable, more comfortable boat.  Is that possible?

BTW my list reads like this:

38-42 feet
Single Cummins diesel w/ bow thruster
2 cabins, Owners cabin w/ queen walk around
Nice shower stall w/ glass door
Easy to launch dinghy on davits (not on cabin top)
Fly Bridge with stairs (no ladder)
Covered cockpit (hard top)
Don't need to go "outside" to get topside
Large enough salon to have 6 for dinner
Propane stove w/ oven
Will apreciate in value over my ownership term ;-)

I know of many people that are very happy with their choices.  There must also be people that love their boat but if they had it to do over, would have made a different choice.

Let her rip!
