Twice in the last week or so people have screwed up and appended the full
digest to their notes. I don't blame the people who are doing this,
because everyone makes a mistake of some kind while they're learning. I do
find it incredible though that the TWL software doesn't flag this and
prevent it from happening. It's so easy for software to recognize.
Last time this came up and I mentioned it should be easy to prevent, I was
told that such protection is already in the system and that it prevents any
notes bigger than some XXX bytes. It seems that either the protection has
been disabled or the XXX needs to be cut way back.
If cutting it back rejects a few looong legitimate posts I don't see that
as a problem either. It just means that the rejected legitimate post would
be routed to some human to be checked before being posted -- maybe it gets
delayed a few hours is all.
This problem is recurrent, known to be an easy place for human error to
occur, and the solution doesn't seem like rocket science.... Have I
misunderstood how deviously difficult it is to flag a post which attaches
the full digest of the day before?
Curmudgeonly....

Which is more annoying than people perpetually whining about e-mail fax
paux? If it bothers you perhaps you should adjust your software to reject
large messages (all the major packages let you set the size limit).
