Small push of birds through the yard late today - Friday. In fact, first real movement here to date, though late.
Being on the top of a ridge, birds often follow the sun up the ridge (or mountains) feeding as they go up with the suns lasting rays as it sets. This concentrates them at the top within the trees and are often easy to see. From here they will push up into the dark sky continuing their migration. More are sure to come.........
In trees:
BLACK & WHITE WARBLER - 1
PARULA - 3
BLACKPOLL - 2
BAY BREASTED - pos 1
YELLOW RUMP - 5
REDSTART - 3
TENNESSEE - 2!
BLACKBURNIAN - 2
BLACK THROATED GREEN - 5
CRESTED FLYCATCHER - 2
other more commons as well -
In bushes low by pond:
C YELLOWTHROAT - 2
PALM - 1
First WHITE-THROATED SPARROW!
Not the best numbers, but a good start for the first push from my yard here in Harwinton.....
