I have easy access to my chain locker. There is about a three-foot rope tail spliced directly to the chain and tied to a padeye. There is a sharp knife attached to the bulkhead door. If I didn't have the easy access, I would splice a longer rope tail to the chain so that I could cut it from the deck if necessary. Note that many gypsies are rope/chain gypsies so that you could use an even longer rope tail if you wanted it. Allen S. Ames Camano Troll "SESAME"
