9:00 a.m. – BAM ride sponsored by South Central Racing/Amica’s Bike Club
The BAM (B ride in the A.M.) is the club’s Thursday morning ride for those
of us who like an occasional group ride that’s not race-pace. We’ll meet
at Absolute Bikes at 9:00 a.m. for a 20-30 mile ride at an average pace of
11-13 mph. Riders are free to turn back at any time if they wish to do a
shorter ride. This is primarily a road bike ride although riders on
mountain bikes are welcome. We’ll try very hard not to drop anyone and
we’ll regroup often. The ride is open to all and everyone is welcome; come
make some new friends!
Bike Rodeo and Helmet give away at Longfellow Elementary with the Salida
Police and Fire Departments and Absolute Bikes. Kids will learn and
practice safety skills, rules of the road and bike handling techniques.
Free helmets will be given to all participating 4th grade students,
compliments of Absolute Bikes.
5:30 p.m. – Educational Mountain Bike Ride – Explore the network of
trails just above Salida and learn about building sustainable trails.
Absolute Bikes sponsors this moderate-skills ride on Tenderfoot and teaches
some of the considerations necessary when building trails to last. Meet at
Absolute Bikes. Helmets required. Donations will support Salida Mountain
Trails.
*7 p.m. – Film Fest at the Salida SteamPlant
*
After you’ve finished up your ride, head back to the SteamPlant for drinks
and film! Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. and films will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Our feature film will be unveiled Thursday evening and a trailer for the
highly anticipated The Rider and the Wolf, the story of Mike Rust, produced
by Salida’s own Grit and Thistle Film Company, will be screened as well.
This event is FREE, although donations will be accepted for the Friends of
the SteamPlant.
