Recently we promoted a "Design the Tacoma Film Festival Poster" art
contest.  The deadline has now passed and the entries are in.  Come see
them!  We have about 50 possible designs for the 2008 Tacoma Film Festival
(October 2-9) and all are posted in the lobby of the Grand Cinema.  They are
simply amazing!  The artistic talent in the area is definitely something to
be proud of.  Before we select the poster that will represent the festival,
we'd appreciate your input.  Ask for a feedback form so you can let us know
your favorites.  You response will help us in our choice.

You need not attend a movie to see the posters but wow, what a week to see a
movie.  We opened SIX movies today.  Check out The News Tribune for full
reviews but it could be a busy weekend:  Brideshead Revisited (4 stars),
Jellyfish (4 stars) and Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson
(5 stars) are all worth seeing.  For one week only we also have four of
United Artists memorable films over their 90 year history: perhaps the best
James Bond movie From Russia With Love; Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon and Tony
Curtis in the classic Some Like it Hot and the original 1963 movie that
started the series, The Pink Panther.  You could rent these movies for home
viewing but there is nothing like the rare opportunity to see them on the
big screen.

Join us for one of the things that makes the Grand unique: post film
discussions.  We'll be discussing Brideshead Revisited following the 3:15
screening on Saturday and Gonzo following the 4:15 screening on Sunday.
Also on Sunday is our final Sunday Social of the summer.  Visit us in our
lower lobby to have a nice afternoon of pie and ice cream.  The desserts are
free but with a suggested donation.  We would like to thank The Commencement
for making this event possible.

For showtimes, movie descriptions and movie trailers, visit the Grand's
website at www.grandcinema.com or call 593-4474.  Thanks for your support of
the non-profit Grand Cinema.
