A red tailed hawk was hunting this afternoon in Haskett Park - Millard Ave. and Queen Street, Newmarket. This is a few blocks east of Yonge St. and south of Davis Drive (hwy. 9). It kept flying back to the top of the tall spruce tree in my yard that probably gave it a better view of the easy pickings at my feeders. As well, we were surprised to spot a lone red winged blackbird near the north end of the marsh while walking the trail around Fairy Lake on Saturday. This area of the park is easily accessed by car from Cane Parkway which runs along the park. Yonge St. to Mulock Dr., east about 1km to Cane Parkway, north about 1 km to where it ends and curves into another road.
