This “Pre-season Glimpse” event offers a unique opportunity for community members to explore the venue, view ongoing improvements, and share their thoughts and experiences on this iconic historic Tacoma landmark. As part of continued efforts to enhance the guest experience, the Rialto Theater has recently installed new period-appropriate carpeting. This improvement supported by the Washington State Historic Preservation Grant is aimed at preserving the theater’s historic charm while enhancing its functionality for modern events. “These renovations reflect the City of Tacoma’s commitment to maintaining the Rialto Theater’s timeless appeal, while making it an even more welcoming space for guests,” said Lynn Carlotto, General Manager for ASM Global at Tacoma City Theaters. “We’re excited to share these updates with the community in advance of the 2024-25 season.” The public open house will give attendees a behind-the-scenes look at these recent updates, while also offering an opportunity to meet members of the Tacoma City Theaters team. In addition to the carpet renovation, the City of Tacoma recently completed other essential upgrades, including a roof replacement last fall, ensuring the venue remains a cherished destination for years to come. The theater is also introducing eco-friendly initiatives, including the launch of the R-Cup, a reusable drink cup program aimed at reducing waste and enhancing sustainability efforts. The Rialto’s phased improvements have sparked growing interest in the venue, positioning it as a regional destination for live music and cultural events.
