I apologize for my ignorance on this situation, as I'm not clear on the whole thing from the beginning, but.... Can we do anything about this mess of a situation? When part of the habitat was originally destroyed to build the stadium and Cabela's, was there any agreement made about managing the rest of the land for grassland species? If not, why the hell not? We have multiple state endangered species breeding there...are our laws worth anything at all? Apparently Cabela's owns that pond and small adjacent field. I thought if there were endangered species present, destruction of habitat housing them could not happen... what IS going on? I remember years back doing an environmental impact statement project for one of my college courses and the presence of endangered species was one facet that could prevent development. It is private property. Connecticut's Endangered Species Act is nearly completely inneffective for listed species on private land. Mark Mark S. guess things have changed - because I was given the impression - back then when I did this project - that it didn't matter - private or public land... endangered meant endangered...
