We have TMD40B engines on our 1985 Kah Shing (that we are quite happy
with the quality of this Taiwan trawler) and when I did a 10 minute
run up (after a 3 hour cruse to the winter marina) just before lay-
up, our STB engine would not exceed 2200, they usually go to 2950
WOT. 1100 hours and I change oil each 150 hours. I suspect the
turbo and will pull off the air filter to see if it will spin with my
finger, if not, could it be clogged with carbon? We usually run
cruse at 1800 to 1900 rpm. It is time to change the CAV 296 and
engine filters, they may have some gunk as they are 3 seasons old.
