QUESTIONS I AM OFTEN ASKED ON WINTER TOURS WHEN PEOPLE LEARN I LIVE IN BC: DOES IT SNOW MUCH IN VANCOUVER WHERE YOU LIVE? I live about a one hour drive from downtown Vancouver. When there is a snowfall here, it usually melts in one to three days. Normally, I do not have more than a total of two weeks of snow in one year. In 1986, after living 37 years in Winnipeg winters, I moved to BC for better weather. It’s not usual to have to wear a winter parka here, but that can happen for a few days. WHAT IS THE COST OF HOMES IN VANCOUVER? A modest home close to downtown Vancouver starts at about one million dollars, but oceanfront homes can easily be 10-20 million dollars or more. The further the home is from downtown Vancouver, generally the lower the price.
