Now, all the really good crystals I have here out of ovens look like
glass on the bottom of the round cans. Something different.

That’s not what you would want to use in an OCXO application if you want reasonable aging. Cold weld is what folks have been using for many decades. That’s what you are seeing with the glass bottoms …. Yes, they are more expensive.
