All,

I have reached out to member Lee Licata to check in on him and Zehra and
make sure they are OK. Video is starting to come in from the earthquake
showing numerous docks ripped away by the powerful force of a tsunami
entering the harbor.

I will let you know if I hear back, or hopefully he will check in here
himself.

Dear all,

First we are fine. Our house has some minor stuff broken, but we were on
the fence to keep it or not. Guess THAT decision was made.

Thank you Sean for checking on us.

We have checked on all of our friends and neighbors and all are fine. We do
not believe any buildings near to us fell. Our building is built on firm
ground, but the road and park in front of us are built on land reclaimed
from the sea. I cannot see any areas where liquidfraction occurred.

Will check on LeeZe today but as she was tied to a concrete pier with 10
18mm+lines, She should have survived probably with out a scratch.

Sooo what is it like to ride a nearly 7.0 earthquake out on the (American
version ) 4th floor of a building: One has to force oneself to stay focused
because everyone else around you has, or is in the process of losing their
cool.

Next, nearly everyone BUT us ran out into the street. Some stayed for
hours. Some camped out on the street until this morning. A fair number
camped in their cars.

The traffic on that divided four lane main road in front of our apartment
was CLOGGED with traffic going BOTH ways until well past 1900.

This morning, at 0900 local, the sun is bright, the campers gone, people
are out and about seemingly doing their normal activities.

The marina on the news is Teos Marina, in Seferihisar, Turkey, half way
between Izmir and Kusadasi on the west coast. The pontoon moorings broke
sending the pontoon and the boats attached, adrift. The bow lines attached
to the "anchor chain"  underwater that did not  hold also must have broke,
because some of the pontoons physically left the confines of the marina.
Some of the boats broke off the pontoon and were further cast adrift.
Lastly, there were boats anchored in the outer harbor off the fish
restaurants and the fishermen's "marina." Some of them drifted into town on
the tsunami wave that happened and then drifted out. One can only surmise
how THAT came to be.

Lee, so glad to hear things are okay for you and your family. Odd thing is,
at least with our limited news, is that Jill and I hadn't heard anything
about the earthquake until Sean posted about it.
