Make sure you have same uhd version on gnu radio and on host pc. I would
recomend installing gnu radio v3.8 and uhd version on pc should b 4.4

Thanks for your response Muhammad, I just installed the software on a fresh Ubuntu 22.04 machine and followed the directions on the ettus web site to get things up and running. I'm afraid I have very little experience with gnuradio and am a bit of a linux hack so please forgive my ignorance. It looks like I installed gnuradio 3.10 by default along with UHD 4.6 I'll go back and try to figure out how to de-install and get the versions you suggested running. Thank you very much for your help. Best, Jim On Feb 16, 2024, at 4:35 PM, Muhammad Hassan engr.muhd.hassan@gmail.com wrote: Make sure you have same uhd version on gnu radio and on host pc. Things to check:
Are you using a USB3-compatible cable---like the one shipped with the B205?
How old is your computer? Very-early USB3 controllers were flakey in
this regard.
Are you going through a USB hub, or direct to the computer? Some hubs
are, again,
flakey in this regard.
Are you running in a VM, or on "bare metal"? USB support in VMs
continues to be sub-optimal.
Can you try backing-out to UHD4.5 or even 4.4?

I'll point out that Gnu Radio has NOTHING to do with this problem at
all. Your tests so far are confined entirely to the UHD
driver universe, so let's get that straight first.

Hi Marcus,
Thank you for your help!
Things to check:
Are you using a USB3-compatible cable---like the one shipped with the B205?
Yes. Using the cable that came with the B205
How old is your computer? Very-early USB3 controllers were flakey in this regard.
Computer is current. i9-13900K on a Z790 motherboard with 192G Ram.
Are you going through a USB hub, or direct to the computer? Some hubs are, again,
flakey in this regard.
Directly plugged into a USB 3.2 10G port.
Are you running in a VM, or on "bare metal"? USB support in VMs continues to be sub-optimal.
Bare metal pop!_os (ubuntu) 22.04
Can you try backing-out to UHD4.5 or even 4.4?
This part I’m a bit confused on. I added the ettus repository which has earlier versions of libuhd, but only has the 4.6 version of uhd-tools. If I try to install one of the earlier versions of libuhd with the 4.6 uhd-tools, it causes a conflict and won’t install. I was able to find a .deb file for uhd-tools 4.4 but is is failing when I try to install it.
Any advice on how to install an earlier version would be appreciated.
Thank you for your kind assistance!
Best,
Jim

For Ubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu packages recent-enough versions of Gnu Radio
and UHD, so that you don't need to use the
special Ettus repo with bleeding-edge UHD. The codebase for the
B2xx series hasn't really changed in quite some time.
I have a 22.04 system (typing on one right now) that just has packages
from the Ubuntu repositories without having to use
the Ettus PPAs.
Thanks Marcus,
I’ll get rid of the ppa’s and try to re-install from the Ubuntu repositories. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Thanks again,
j
