This June, Puyallup native artist, Kerry Vosler, will return to Washington State to do three arts events. Kerry is a nationally known artist who has become well known for her portraits, landscapes and teaching workshops. She will do two portrait demonstrations from life. The first will be for the Rainer League of Arts on Tuesday, June 16 at 7 p.m.. The second will be a portrait demonstration from life at the Fred Oldfield Center in Puyallup on Thursday, June 25, from 6 to 9 p.m. Kerry will then teach a three-day portrait painting workshop from June 26-28 at the Fred Oldfield Western Heritage Center. These events are all open to the public.

Note: The Workshop will be held at the Fred Oldfield Center at the Puyallup Fairgrounds at the North end on 9th South West, at the Red Gate.
This workshop will focus on the portrait in the landscape. Learning to see light rather than an object will be our focus. We will start by learning to see simple large masses. Achieving likeness in a model is determined by accurately describing these masses, their shape, color value and temperature. I will do many short demonstrations to illustrate this approach and work with students at their easels. We will be working from live models in beautiful parks adjacent to the Fred Oldfield Center. All levels are welcome. Students may work in pastel, oil or watercolor.
