Three different Winter Wrens were singing this morning at Branford
Supply Ponds all from along the Orange trail that leads off the big
parking lot. The first one I heard from across the upper pond. It was
in the vicinity of Noble's bench and the sound carried beautifully over
the water. When I came around on the trail, there was another one along
the stream that feeds into the upper pond and then also one near the big
parking lot.
The Supply Pond trails are now open after sustaining severe damage from
the August tropical storm (many trees snapped at mid-height and fallen
trees everywhere). Kudos to the people that worked so hard to open the
trails up. The granite bench honoring Noble Proctor was destroyed as
well. I believe there is an effort underway to restore it.
Also two Pied-billed Grebes in the upper pond.
