Does anyone have experience with 2 part polyurethane paints for above the
waterline. I'm particularly interested in Sterling, Awlgrip or Interlux but
can't find more than a paragraph or two of  independent opinions on the
different brands.

Thank you in advance,

Rex, I am setting up to paint Skooch this spring. I have some paint
experience having worked for Dupont and was the air dry finishes product
manager for five years. Their Polyurethane is Imron I won't use that becuase
its formulated for spray and does not have the gloss I want. I have not been
able to rent a paint shed so I think I 'm going to "roll and tip". Roll on
the paint with a fine roiller and tip it with a good brush. A two man
operation, I'm already working on the Admiral to be the second person. I
have never done Roll and tip but I saw it done a few times. I'll practice on
the basement, pretty expensive practice at $50/qt but cheaper than some one
else having all the fun.

I may use InterLux because its easy to buy all the stuff. I have not found
easy access to awlgrip  and Sterling and its solvents and undercoats. I'm
sure all of them will be satisfactory for me. I will make my final selection
on which one I can get easily and which one seems to be easiest to Roll and
Tip. I feel confident from looking at the product sheets that they are all
good polyurethanes. Tehy certainly charge enough for them.

I will be happy to keep you informed as to what I'm dong if you do the same.
Most of the work will be surface prep. Slopping the paint on in the end will
be the fun part. I'm doing my arm exercises already.
