hi all,

I just stumbled on an ad for a Timing Solutions TSC5110a. It looks a bit scruffy and it is ~800km away so local inspection is a no-go. And it appears to be part of a pile of surplus that some surplus dealer has acquired (also sells old pizza ovens, etc, that kind of surplus dealer).

That said: what kind of € or US$ is a ballpark value? And is there anything specific I should ask the seller to try, apart from the obvious powerup test? Specific selftest maybe? Sofar I have not found a manual for it, if someone has as PDF for me I would much appreciate a copy!

best,
Wilko

Hello Wilko,

Sorry I missed this email and just saw it now.

Are you talking about the seller from "Kleinanzeigen" which also has
other Symmetricom hardware? I asked him also last week about those 5110a
units and he said 1200 Euro including shipping.

Hardware looks pretty bad and also not kept in good conditions, not sure
if they kept it in rain because it looks all pictures are made outside
and in winter temperatures that for sure is not good.

Cheers!
Razvan

Hi

There’s not a whole lot of documentation on the internals of the TCS5xxx test gear. If it works, that’s great. If it stops working things can get pretty crazy pretty fast. I would not want to pay much for one in “unknown” condition …..

hi Razvan,

Yes, that one. For sure I will never pay €1200 for it, far too much risk like you say.
Good to know, see what develops..

thank you,
Wilko
