You wrote " He is new to boating and anchoring. I wood suggest that there is more to learn as a new boater. He should take the Boating Course put on by the USPS (in USA) and the CPS/ECP (in Canada). These courses are done on-line and where possible in class. Just knowing about anchoring as a new boater is not enough to be a safe new boater. New boat sales in USA and Canada has increased exponentially in the last year. Unless these new owners take the time to learn we experienced boaters may be in danger.
