Hey Birders,
Today their was pretty good activity throughout the island. A moderate reverse migration took place at Fish Point this morning, with 29 Eastern Kingbirds, 40 Baltimore Orioles and 20 Indigo Buntings topping the list of interesting numbers seen.
At Fish Point, a young male Summer Tanager, male Hooded Warbler, Northern Mockingbird and Yellow-throated and White-eyed Vireo were the highlights.
Another White-eyed Vireo was seen at Lighthouse Point this afternoon. At least one Whip-poor Will can be heard from the Municipal Campground. The Harlequin Duck is being seen easily from Sheridan's Point as recently as yesterday (when it was last looked for).
Other firsts of the year today include; Green Heron, Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Red-eyed Vireo, Black-throated Blue and Tennesse Warblers and Great-crested Flycatcher.
Yesterday's highlights included a male Blackpoll Warbler and White-eyed Vireo at Lighthouse Point and a Northern Mockingbird near the Stone Road Alvar.
Good Birding,
Ken Burrell
