A visit to Milford Point this evening led to the observation of a number of noteworthy species. Highlights included the drake HARLEQUIN DUCK (keeping company with a female Common Goldeneye), the AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER, acting like a Golden-Plover as it was observed foraging on dry ground in the weedy beach area beyond Francis St, a SNOWY EGRET, observed flying in from over the sound and landing on the breakwater, presumably to roost for the night, and a first winter ICELAND GULL along the beach. All but the egret were continuing birds. Other notable sightings were: Bald Eagle, Peregrine Falcon, and Northern Shoveler. Full report on eBird.
