Since I am the one that started the counter top conversation, I'll  respond.

The majority of the folks with the counter top units emailed me off line.
They mostly didn't like them. The ice is not very frozen when it is ready. You
have to bag it and put it into a freezer soon. I decided not to buy one.

I also decided not to buy a built in marine unit such as U Line because the
boat's tank water is not very fresh unless it is used everyday. Who needs
stinky  ice.

What I decided to do was what I was doing before. Buy ice by the
bag...several bags at a time... and keep them in my chest style deep freeze  which
measures 23.5W by 23.5 D by 34.5H It will hold about ten 8# bags plus a  basket full
of meat and frozen vegetables.
