clip <<Anybody please help,
I have twin 240 hp turbo Perkins (1986, 3,600hrs.). For the last few
hundred hours one of them will run too hot at rpms over 1,800-the higher the
rpms the hotter it runs. >>>
Has the problem just appeared or has it been that way? I had a pair of 225
turbo Sabre's in my Defever that the records had shown the previous owner
had it in for service many times for one engine running hot under a heavy
load. They soaked him over the years for lots of cash never repairing the
problem. I found the problem to be a ding in the thermostat casting that
made the thermostat stick and prevent it from opening all the way. I can't
believe many "mechanics" of his even after replacing thermostats couldn't
figure that one out. (or maybe they did)
Two seconds with a die grinder and problem solved.
