Tacoma, WA — Smarthouse Creative and Melinda Raebyne Films/Sui Productions,
in partnership with the Grand Cinema are proud to announce the launch of
Tacoma Filmmaker Conversations, a new series designed to bring together
filmmakers, artists, creators, and industry professionals from across the
South Sound. This inaugural event offers a space to connect, collaborate,
and explore the issues shaping our region’s creative landscape.
Join us on November 17th for the first edition of Tacoma
Filmmaker Conversations, featuring a special presentation by Audra Laymon
of Washington FilmWorks. Audra will introduce the Above the Line program,
an initiative that uplifts emerging Washington State directors and
producers from historically underrepresented communities through mentorship
and education. She’ll also be available for a Q&A session about Washington
FilmWorks’ broader efforts to support regional productions.
Following the presentation, guests are invited to continue the conversation
during a casual social hour in The Grand’s lounge. Whether you're deep in
production or just beginning your creative journey, this is an opportunity
to build relationships, spark ideas, and be part of Tacoma’s growing film
dialogue.
Stay tuned for future TFC dates and discussion topics! Tacoma
Filmmaker Conversations is co-presented by Melinda Raebyne (Melinda Raebyne
Films) and Ryan Davis (Smarthouse Creative), two local champions of
independent storytelling and community engagement.
