Committee Members:
Chuck Thompson last week informed you of the appellate court's decision upholding the challenge to the City of Gainesville Ordinance. In the past few weeks the violating establishments have entered into voluntary settlement agreements agreeing to not admit persons under the age of 21 between the hours of 9 pm and 2 am (closing hour) for a 90 day period. If there are subsequent violations, the next period could extend for 180 days.
Attached is the website to an article that appeared in today's student newspaper. I think we now have the attention of the students. Additionally, I have attached below the memorandum we sent to our city commission informing them of the court's decision.
