Racing Update
After last week's abandonment, the first Wednesday Night race of the season
will be this week. The starting gun is at 6:30 pm.
In case you missed them, attached are the updated Sailing Instructions and
Scoring Rules for 2018.
Please note the Spinnaker Division will start first this year, followed
roughly 5 minutes later by the Non-spinnaker Division. The Spinnaker
Division should fly an orange streamer from their backstay, and the
Non-Spinnaker Division should fly a green streamer.
In order to be scored, a boat must have a 2018 PHRF rating, and be a paid-up
member of the Cruising Fleet. Please note - those skippers who have not paid
their dues and joined the Fleet will be asked by the Race Committee to stand
off and race with the Open Fleet.
In order to obtain your PHRF rating, please go to www.HRYRA.org and follow
the instructions.
If you don't wish to be on the Cruising Fleet racing or cruising e-mail
list, please let me know.
Conversely, if you would like your crew or significant other to be on the
Cruising Fleet racing e-mail list, please let me know.
Congratulations to John Sheehan for racing yesterday in the first race of
the season! He says he's very happy with his new Tartan 30 Imagine More.
Cruising Update
May 11 - 13th - a "Cruise at Home". Requested by the Fleet - a learn to
cruise weekend at the Boat Club. Have dinner on the patio Friday evening May
11th, stay on your boat on your own mooring Friday night and enjoy the
Opening Day festivities on Saturday at the Club. Then motor or sail up to
Hook Mountain Saturday evening, have dinner on your boat and anchor
overnight. Sail back to the Club on Sunday, or join a fun Club race Sunday
afternoon. This weekend will be great practice for those new to cruising, or
to have a shake-down cruising weekend for the old hands. The weather should
be perfect! If you wish to be involved, please contact me or Morris Azar
(sailor1205@aol.com) so that you are included.
Remember, all updated information on both cruising and racing activities can
be found at http://cruisingfleetnbc.com. Copy the link to your home page to
be one click away from the latest NBC launch schedule, tides/currents, and
weather forecasts.
Finally, if you haven't joined the Cruising Fleet, please send a check, made
out to our treasurer Mark English, and mail to Mark English, Ameriprise
Financial, 800 Westchester Avenue, Suite S-508, Rye Brook, NY 10573.
See you on the water.
