SNIP:
Does anyone have any comments or advice concerning a Vitrifrigo as a
replacement for a Norcold?...John Blackburn 44 DeFever Deale, MD

I have read with great interest all the valuable comments regarding a
replacement refrigerator for a Norcold that have appeared on this list. The
reason is because I have been convinced from listening to this board that my
upright Norcold would surely die any minute. The fact that the factory
installed the "Norcold" nameplate upside-down did not add to my confidence
level. I even decided on a successor when-not if-my Norcold died. I decided to
replace it with a SeaFeeze based on your comments and other input. But I must
confess: the darn thing refuses to die!!! It is now 20 years old. 3300 hours
on the engines probably means 16,000 hours on the fridge. Yes, I am in the PNW
where it is a wee bit cooler than some places (although perhaps the season is
longer). And yes, I did replace the original wiring with heavier wiring. (I
use the old wiring for the muffin fan I added).
Why am I writing this? To suggest that you not replace your Norcold 'til you
are sure it is dead.
