This past fall I attended Trawlerfest at Solomens. During one of the
presentations, the presenter made a comment regarding his having a fireplace
in his trawler. I am a trawler-wannabe and wondered can one have a working
fireplace in a trawler or was he pulling our (respective) legs. If it is
possible can anyone tell me what kind you use; positives and negatives of
having/using one. Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this for me.

We have a small Force 10 deisel/kerosene fireplace and when it is cold
really helps.
If you would like a photo, let me know.

Salty now in Port Angeles
Bonjour
Pulling your legs? Of course not. Many sailboaters and liveaboards have a
fireplace to keep the boat dry and comfortable. They use logs found in the
water or on the beach and let it dry on the deck sometimes for days/weeks. I
had one round stainless steel fireplace in my 1927 ketch but took it off. It
gets too hot. My boat is too small for such a thing. Too dangerous to fall
on it...
