Well, about 3:00 today I noticed a slight fuel leak in the return line to
the supply tank/manifold. It's a T fitting that I can't service underway,
so I've placed bilge rags around it to keep it under control. I called
Capt. Mike Maurice to get his opinion and he put my mind at ease that with
700 gallons on board it's unlikely I won't make it to Coos Bay J
It's really nice to be able to call someone like Mike and have him put
things in perspective. There's nothing like experience to tell you when you
should really be worried!
Also, yesterday we sighted sever humpback whales, the closest getting within
50 yards of the boat when sounding. The only other excitement was a Sun
Fish laying on top of the water working on his tan I guess?
It still amazes me I can get cell internet access 20 miles at sea with no
amplification or external antenna, just the USB720 on Verizon EVDO network.
It's going to be a long night, but I have a movie or two to keep me company.
Oh, I'll follow this with my opinions on the FLIR, if I didn't already post
it?
