Dear Colleagues,

I would like to share the Call for Papers (CFP) of the Pre-1900 Chinese Literature session for the RMMLA conference:

CFP: Chinese Literature before 1900
Rocky Mountain Modern Language Association (RMMLA) 78th Annual Convention
Dates: October 16–18, 2025
Location: Centennial by Davenport Hotel in Spokane, Washington
We invite paper proposals examining Chinese literature before 1900. Submissions may address any form or conception of literature, including (but not limited to) poetry, fiction, essays, literary criticism, drama, and performance genres. We particularly welcome approaches that explore these works in their historical, cultural, socio-political, religious, or gendered contexts, as well as studies of their reception and translation across various languages, cultures, and time periods. Scholars at all stages of their careers are encouraged to submit abstracts.
The Rocky Mountain Modern Language Association (RMMLA) is one of six regional but independent branches of the Modern Language Association (MLA). Founded in 1947, the RMMLA shares the MLA’s broad thematic scope but offers a more open, supportive, and intimate atmosphere—an ideal setting for lively dialogue and scholarly exchange. For more information about the 2025 convention, please visithttps://www.rmmla.org/convention
Please submit your abstract via the linked form by March 17, 2025:
