The expansion tank cap must have two seals, the normal one and an additional
one that is under the top of the cap.  It is usually just a soft rubber
gasket and this gasket is sometimes included with aftermarket overflow
tanks.  It is best to use a cap that was designed and built for use with an
overflow tank if you can get one.

I added overflow tanks to both engines (not Lehman) and the generator and
all three are working fine.  I used the original caps but added the supplied
rubber gaskets under the cap top.
