Great site!  Just found it, bookmarked now.  I am hoping you can help me
with a question.  Do you know of any where on the Web I can look at a
chart, where I can just put in the long. and lat. and see where it is?
Its making me crazy, cause what I need is the S. Pacific (friend is a
commercial fisherman working there) and I can't find any where that  I
can look and see where the boat is.  Any help would be greatly
appreciated!  Thanks

Claire

Hi All, normally I would just send this reply to the originator, but in this
case I thought others might be interested. Claire, the site you are looking
for is the USGS 'Corona Satellite Photography' page. It will allow you to
enter a Lon/Lat for a specific spot or enter a upper & lower range for an
area. If it has a satellite photo in its database then you get to see it.
For your purpose just enter the Northern most Latitude and the Western most
Longitude and click on Draw Map and it will show you where the position is
located. Another handy feature is the ability to enter the name of almost
any place in the US and get the Lon/Lat for it, great for setting up those
waypoints. I hope this helps, and I hope I didn't bore anyone. Have a happy
new year.

If you have a Macintosh, you find a feature under control-panels
called "map". It'll give you that functionality. If you don't have a
MAC ....  :-(

Try -

http://www.pangolin.co.nz/yotreps/plotter.asp

This is the yacht reporting plotter from the YOTREPS reporting scheme and
covers the south pacific.  Note the little box to the right of the plot that
shows you the lat long of your cursor.  This one gives you some idea of
where you are with reference to the islands.
