Hello,

Of course the hurricane will be here tomorrow, the boat is tied into

the slip like a ¾” line spider pounced on us, and now the master berth air
conditioner is sounding like a thrashing machine self-destructing and the
power draw is jumping to peg the panel meter.  I have contacted a local
dealer who has me on the list for a visit next week.  The unit is a
16,000btu cool/heat system.  Are these system serviceable generally or
should I start looking at replacement?  The unit is 10 yrs old.

Sweating out the hurricane in more ways than one.

Hello all,
Thank you all for your advice and suggestions.
The local dealer came out to the boat and found the FX1 controller board
was at fault.  The thrashing sound was the reversing valve snapping on-off
rapidly.  He disconnected the reversing value and ordered a new board.  A
day later the unit stopped working completely.  The dealer came back to the
boat with a new FX1 board.  The old board has two "burn" marks on the back
of the board.  The unit is now working well.
