Solid vs See-thru & Eyebrow window covers

An alternative to either solid or see thru covers which fasten directly to
windows all around the window perimeter are "eyebrow covers". In these, the
shade material is fastened to the window frame or just above only at the
top...like an angled sunshade. The bottom edge typically extends out to a lower height.

On my salon side windows, for example, the tops are button fastened just
above my window tops, the lower edge buttons to my handrails. I have normal
visibility except cannot see much nearby sky...Mine are about 12 feet long and 16
inches wide....So I have shade most of the day, except when the sun is low in the
sky, but  full visibility and ventilation...They also block more heat
intrusion than fully fastened covers since they are away from the window
surface....They will also keep out light rain in hot weather when ventilation is
desired.....On the negative side, they do block my catwalks....so I have to step up
past them to the cabin roof to get by...Also in expected storm conditions they
should be removed as they are wind catchers, depending on size and
configuration.......

If they are fastened via a slotted connection instead of buttons at the top
they will keep out fairly heavy rains while permitting ventilation...
